However, mobilizing and bringing help to communities in need has become more challenging in the past couple of years due to the ongoing pandemic. Because of this reality, Giving Digitized, a digital platform that aims to help charities and volunteers adapt to the new normal, was created.
This excellent idea was spearheaded by longtime volunteer and founder Shazia Peeran. She saw that the COVID-19 pandemic had brought a devastating effect on the operations of non-profit organizations. All the while, more and more communities and individuals are in urgent need of assistance. Quickly springing to action, the innovative woman found a way to utilize the virtual sphere to continue giving to the community; thus, Giving Digitized was born.
The platform has revolutionized the way charities communicate with the public. By creating a streamlined and efficient process, it has allowed these foundations to participate in socially distant giving. Not only that, but it also provides transparency when it comes to requests from the community as well as the distribution. More specifically, the site provides communities with a space to relay what they need, know what type of help is coming, and account for its receipt and distribution.
The one-of-a-kind venture has hit the ground running, and within a few months, they have already made a substantial impact by serving hundreds of families through 17 different charities across four states. Additionally, they have also provided more than 24,550 meals to various communities throughout America.
In January, several participants in 24 cities across the country came together on Giving Digitized in the company’s most considerable single-day efforts to date. The large-scale charity event took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is also recognized as the National Day of Service.
Founder Shazia Peeran shared, ‘We were honored to be a service partner on the Presidential Inaugural Committee National Day of Service, which is planned with AmeriCorps. It was uplifting to see that there were so many who wanted to contribute and help the community.’
Now, the organization plans to spread the word about its extraordinary advocacy and hopefully broaden its network in order to support more people and families. In addition, they wish to connect and collaborate with like-minded groups who want and need to help the community with supplies for different types of situations, including natural disasters, food drives, school supplies drive, winter coat drive, and supplies for the homeless. The group also focuses on addressing issues worsened by the pandemic, such as hunger, homelessness, and economic opportunity.
The venture’s goal for the future is to help a million people in need through the platform. They also organize and plan yearly pre-set virtual drives such as food and groceries and natural disaster relief where charities can participate.
Ultimately, Giving Digitized wishes to let more charitable institutions know that they can use the platform to make their lives easier, thus enabling them to take care of the community more efficiently.
